Research profile

The research focuses on the elderly population, including frail persons, frail elderly immigrants and persons with visual impairment. The research includes RCT interventions addressing elderly person in different phases of the disablement process, from elderly persons who are beginning to develop frailty to very frail elderly persons. Public health interventions (RCT) have been performed to improve well being for specific target groups (e.g. age related macular degeneration). The aging process includes early undetected signs of aging experienced by the old persons themselves (e.g. participation and engagement of daily and leisure activities) as well as the influence of external factors( environmental factors, assistive technology, support) which also regulate the pace and direction of the disablement process. The aim is to identify factors that prevent further decline and/or may ameliorate limitations and development of disability.
